A joint investigation team (JIT) summoned Aleema Khan and 16 other people for interrogation in a case linked to an alleged negative anti-government propaganda on social networks.
According to sources, JIT has issued new opinions to these people, asking them to appear on March 21. Investigators will probe their involvement in the alleged online campaign against the government.
Those summoned include political figures such as Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Mohammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Mohammad Aslam Iqbal, Mohammad Hammad Azhar and Aun Abbas.
The others on the list include Mohammad Shehbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, Taimoor Saleem Khan, Sibghatullah Warak, Azhar Mashwani and Mohammad Noman Afzal.
In addition, the JIT summoned Jibran Ilyas, Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warak and Ali Malik.
The sources have added that the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf, Imran Khan, was summoned again, despite the JIT on March 19.
The survey is carried out under the 2016 law on the prevention of electronic crimes. The JIT was formed by the federal government and is led by the Islamabad police chief.
Aleema Khan appeared for the last time in front of Jit on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the alleged “malicious campaigns on social networks” aimed at encouraging unrest in the country.
According to local media, Aleema Khan was questioned for more than two hours by the JIT.
Investigators interviewed her in Imran Khan’s social media account, added sources.
During the session, Aleema Khan would have informed the jit that the social media account of his brother is managed from abroad and that she has no knowledge of her operations.
She argued that the account is only used to promote PTI’s official position, sources said.
Previously, the JIT had summoned Aleema Khan last Friday, but she could not attend personal commitments. Instead, his lawyer, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, appeared in his name.
