An elder Michigan co-de-offensive coordinator Accused of hacking the personal information of thousands of athletes and stolen photos and “intimate” photos and videos in the course of almost eight years was struck by a federal indictment of 24 charges on Thursday, prosecutors announced.
The American lawyer’s office for the Oriental District of Michigan announced that the indictment more than two years after Matt Weiss, 42, was dismissed from his coach position under the former head coach Jim Harbaugh Following an investigation into alleged crimes.

“Our office will move aggressively to pursue computer hacking to protect the private accounts of our citizens,” American lawyer Julie Beck said in a press release. “We are ready with our partners responsible for the application of laws to bring those who illegally invade the privacy of others in justice.”

Weiss is accused of having committed alleged crimes from 2015 to January 2023.
According to the indictment, Weiss “obtained unauthorized access to the databases of athlete students of more than 100 colleges and universities which were maintained by a third party supplier”. He would then have downloaded personal information and data of more than 150,000 athletes and, from there, Weiss was able to access information of more than 2,000 athletes, including access to their social networks, their emails and their cloud storage.

Weiss is accused of using this information to download “intimate personal photographs and digital videos that have never been intended to be shared beyond intimate partners,” said prosecutors.
“Today’s accusation of Matthew Weiss underlines the commitment and meticulous investigation efforts of our law enforcement professionals,” said FBI special agent Cheyvoryea Gibson, in a statement.
“The FBI Detroit Cyber Task Force, in close collaboration with the University of Michigan police service, worked tirelessly in this case to safeguard and protect our community.”

Weiss faces 14 chefs of unauthorized access to computers and 10 aggravated identity flight chiefs. It is faced with a maximum of five years’ imprisonment for each of the unauthorized access charges and up to two years for each identity flight chief.
