Upenn Finance Pause: Paula Scanlan laughs at the request for a university donation

The former swimmer of women and conservative influencer of the University of Pennsylvania, Paula Scanlan, is never in a mood to give as far as her Alma Mater is concerned, but she was in a mood to joke when the university came by chance to ask for a gift the same day as the Trump administration interrupted $ 175 million in its federal funding.

Scanlan, who was one of the UPENN swimmers, forced to share a swimming pool and changing rooms, the transgender swimmer Lia Thomas during the 2021-22 season, PK Press Club Digital often obtains requests from the university call center for donations.

By chance, she obtained a Wednesday, a few hours after the announcement of the funding break.

“They always call me, and they call all the ancients … Obviously, I am not interested in giving money. I do not think that I would even consider it until I have no apology on being forced to undress in front of a man in the locker rooms three times a week.

“But, ironically [Wednesday] It was one of the times they chose to do it, which I really thought funny given the announcement. “”

Scanlan added that the last time she received a request from Upenn for a donation was in February by e-mail.

“This is not a new thing, but I’m sure they are pressure for money and it’s certainly something they are trying to do.”

Riley Gaines wants to send a “ thank you note ” to Lia Thomas – This is why

However, Scanlan wants more than apologies for her Alma Mater to have a chance to win his donation.

“The University of Pennsylvania has more than 150 unique things in which you can specialize, I think we are examining mass services that are completely useless diplomas. Students withdraw hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans to specialize in unnecessary things like gender studies and I think we have to see them get rid of it,” said Scranlan.

“It is not unique at the University of Pennsylvania and it is something I would like to see before considering making a donation, not only to my university, but to any university through this country.”

Scanlan was one of Upenn’s most frank criticism for his decision to align Thomas in the women’s team dating back to the first season of the women of the Trans athlete in 2021-222.

Scanlan, a survivor of sexual assault, offered anonymous information to reports on the emotional impact that Thomas’ presence on the team had on her and other teammates. Then in July 2023, Scanlan openly testified alongside Riley Gaines to the members of the subcommittee of the Judicial Committee of the Chamber on the Constitution and the limited government.

Now, three years after the swimming season of the college that changed her life, she sees the institution that crossed her through this experience paying a heavy financial penalty.

However, it is not as high as it wanted to see him pay.

“I think it’s obviously a good thing, it’s a good message to send,” said Scanlan. “But that will only make a small difference and I think that what they are likely to do with the financing cup is probably drawing some administrators, this will not change the leading costs for these departments, with regard to the types of teachers they hire, to the ideology they teach.

“I hope we continue to see people suppressing this kind of campus and I hope to see the reform, but again, this is just a small step.”

The news of the financing break has caused more festive responses of some of the former scanlan teammates, but they share its conviction that other measures must be taken. The former swimmer of Upenn, Grace Estabrook, told PK Press Club Digital that she wanted to see all the records and distinctions of trans-trans-transhas and others in the female category to be revoked.

“I am grateful that the administration recognizes federal violations and measures, but we always need these institutions to be fully responsible.

Estabrook is part of a trial alongside her and other former Upenn de Scanlan teammates, Margot Kaczorowski and Ellen Holmquist, seeking to make Thomas’ files are rubbed.

Kaczorowski and Holmquist made a joint declaration to PK Press Club Digital via the independent council for female sports renting the Trump administration for the financing break.

“We are so happy that universities are starting to see that there is a cost to harm students openly to their campuses and that we hope that pressure will increase. Penn and other universities within the NCAA, by virtue of the NCAA policy and their own leadership Voyou, violated the federal law and wounded women,” said the press release.

“They knowingly stolen from opportunities and rewards of women, placed women in physical danger and facilitated sexual harassment of athlete women. All women on a university campus and under NCAA regulations should be assured of title IX protections. Institutions that ignore women’s well-being must understand that they cannot rewrite or ignore federal protections that were women.”

PK Press Club Digital contacted Upenn to comment.
