- Max added more than 120 new features to its application in 2024
- A WBD survey indicates an increase in design, stability and personalization

Max has been busy making numerous updates to its application in the past year as part of its global expansion in more countries, but all new features are not welcome.
Of the 120 new features that were added to the Max application in 2024, most aim to improve the content discovery course to find the best Max films and the best maximum programs, but there have also been less favorable advertising updates.
These include announcements that allow you to buy products related to the content you look at by clicking on a QR code, recommendations for sponsored content and advertisements that target “ moments ” (not to be confused with the “moments” functionality of Netflix which facilitates the sharing of content on the social).
It is a field that many of the best streaming services are doubled more and more, because they are looking for more means to generate lost income from unsuccessful films and emissions. Indeed, Prime Video has also added many of the same advertising features in the past year, which slowly makes it to fill even more ads.
Aside from the advertising attack, Warner Bros. Discovery has made other modifications to the Max application, including improvements as an improved navigation design on the home page to make your life in streaming.
This update has moved the navigation tools normally found at the top of a title to the left utilitarian menu, which makes it much easier to find these options (see the difference that it made in the image below).
Global subscribers have also been treated on more ways to find content in the application, even under streaming. This feature allows you to browse similar titles while watching a film or a show by clicking on a drop -down arrow to access the recommendations list.
Like Netflix, Max has also added similar features to recommend more movies and shows to watch after finishing a title. This means that after 25 seconds, if you have not selected something else, a related gender title will automatically start to play.
Another Netflix feature that Max has added is that the titles on the home page will automatically start playing the trailer with the audio during navigation. I don’t know about you, but I can’t help but find this distracting while browsing content and I prefer the audio to be attenuated while the video plays. At least, this feature has only been deployed in the United States for the moment.
The other American features that have been added include the possibility of looking at five of the HBO linear channels via the application. These include HBO, HBO 2, HBO Signature, HBO Comedy and HBO Zone.
And, of course, we cannot forget the new multi-commentary functionality of the 2025 NASCAR CUP series which puts you in the driver’s seat which was added to the applications of American subscribers earlier this year. It is an excellent sporting feature that we see being added to many streamers, such as the Apple TV and Youtube application.
It is only a small part of the technological updates that Max’s streaming application has added since September 2024, but they highlight a large part of the work behind the scenes that the service does while it seeks to develop in more regions.
Max was deployed in 73 new countries in the space of nine months and will soon embark on the Australian coasts on March 31, just in time for the HBOs The last of us Season 2, which will be presented on April 13. However, for those of us in the United Kingdom, we will have to wait patiently a little longer until we can access all these major features in the maximum (most likely at the beginning of 2026, depending on the report). In the meantime, the best place to broadcast HBO content in the United States is on the sky or now.
