Karachi reports the first case of Sindh Monkeypox, isolated patient at Jinnah hospital

The first confirmed case of Monkeypox (MPOX) in the Sindh was reported in Karachi, revealed sources of the Health Department on Saturday.

According to sources, a patient admitted to Jinnah hospital was diagnosed with Monkeypox after his samples were sent to DOW hospital for laboratory tests. The results confirmed the presence of the virus, making it the first case verified in the province.

Health officials said the patient’s test results came back positive, adding that his wife had recent travel history abroad. She initially presented monkeypox symptoms before her husband contracts the infection.

The patient, a 28 -year -old resident of Shah Latif Town, Karachi, was placed in a district of isolation, and strict precautionary measures have been implemented to prevent a new spread of the virus.

The authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and to respect the health guidelines to slow down the transmission of Monkeypox in the region.
