- The rumor suggests that an ad could happen next week
- The Z5 II could be a “mini z6 III”
- No official Nikon word still
The Nikon Z5 is the cheapest complete camera in the company, but even the fans would admit that it grew up a little in the tooth. Today five years old, he remains a capable artist (and particularly tempting if you can generally recover it at a large discount), but he is certainly behind an update.
It has long been believed that Nikon will unveil a Nikon Z5 II this year. And the latest rumors suggest that the camera could be announced next week. Nikon Rumors has published a story by affirming as much (although the moment does not become more precise than “next week”), as well as the interesting detail that their source describes the Z5 II as a “ mini z6 III ” – IE will be delivered with a technology seen on the superb Z6 III, which was launched in the summer of 2024.
Nikon Rumors has no other details about what to expect from the Nikon Z5 II. But we can make some illuminated assumptions on upgrades could be present.
What form could the Nikon Z5 II take?
Regarding upgrades, we expect an approach similar to the way the Sensor Z50 II was built on the Z50, which would mean any change in resolution. In the case of Z5 II, this means another full 24 MP sensor and no major image quality improvement for users focused on fixed images.
That said, the Z5 II could be delivered with the latest Nikon Autofocus processor and system, as shown in the Sensor Z50 II. If this is the case, users can expect much better overall speed, to develop the subject detection, to faster burst shooting speeds and powerful video performance.
There could also be an image control button for direct access to color profiles, as well as applications compatibility and the designer download option for different looks. So, overall, we expect to see timely and significant improvements arrive with any Z5 II.
As for the price, we think that a Z5 II would probably divide the difference between the Z5 and the Z6 III. Currently, the Z5 with the target 24 to 50 mm is about $ 1,300 / £ 1,200 in the main retailers, while the Nikon Z6 III, the next model in the full range of the company, is $ 2,200 / £ 2200 for the body only. This means that the Z5 II could be launched for something like $ 1,700 / £ 1,600 with a basic kit target.
The question of whether the camera is even on the way is all the speculation for the moment. If the rumors are true, however, we will not have much more time to wait until Nikon officially delivers the news. Stay listening to find out more.
