- Waze Sur iOS soon abandons Google Assistant
- Gemini and conversational reports take over
- Google Assistant remains in Waze for Android for the moment
Gemini replaces Google Assistant on several applications and several devices at the moment, and if you use Waze on your iPhone, you will soon notice the mapping application exchanging the old Bot AI for the most recent.
As technological programs underlined today (via Macrumors), the announcement was made on the official forums of the Waze community. The announcement acknowledges that Google Assistant on Waze for iOS has been buggy for some time, which is one of the reasons for Switch.
“Rather than simply correcting a feature that has been faced with current difficulties, we decided to eliminate Google Assistant on iOS from tomorrow and replace it with an improved vocal interaction solution in the near future”, reads the post forum.
Although Gemini is not specifically mentioned in this post, the AI improved Application has been named as the basis of the conversational report function that Waze has already previewed and which is tested with a limited number of users at the moment.

The improved conversational report function, powered by Gemini, will allow more natural conversations with Waze when you are on the go. It will include a wider range of sentences and will ask follow -up questions if necessary.
So you could say “cars are blocked in front of” or “there is a mattress on the road”, or anything other occasional or informal – and Waze understands what you mean and ensures that the right report is saved in the application for other users.
Given the Buggy nature of Google Assistant on Waze for iOS and the higher capacities of Gemini, it is very logical that this change is now made – especially since Google seems to accelerate by eliminating Google Assistant.
Google Assistant will remain in place on Waze for Android in the predictable future, although this change will undoubtedly occur. Waze says that conversational reports take place to everyone in the “months to come”.
