Siddiqui withdraws resignation as chief of NIRC

Islamabad:

Former judge of the High Court of Islamabad (IHC), Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, withdrew his resignation as president of the National Commissions on Industrial Relations (NIRC).

The judge (RETD) Siddiqui made this decision after a meeting with the Overseas Ministry of the Pakistani, Dr. Arshad Mahmood. During the meeting, Dr. Mahmood welcomed Siddiqui’s efforts to accelerate the affairs of pending workers and ensure rapid justice in the last three months.

Recognizing the key role of NIRC in solving workers ‘problems, the secretary urged the former IHC judge to continue serving in the workers’ well-being post. The judge (RETD) Siddiqui then agreed to withdraw his resignation and to continue as president of the NIRC for the good of the workers.

Previously, he had submitted a one -month opinion for his resignation. The Federal Cabinet had appointed the former IHC judge as president of NIRC for a three -year term in December 2024.

The judge (RETD) Shuakat Aziz Siddiqui was dismissed in October 2018 of his post as a judge then superior of the IHC, with a view to a presidential reference filed against him by the federal government led by the PTI.

The judge moved the Supreme Court against the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council. The Supreme Court, however, only resumed its case after its retirement pension and, in March 2024, canceled the dismissal order and relaunched its status as a former CIH judge.
