Friday, the Islamabad district and sessions court granted a deposit to journalist Waheed Murad who was arrested in a case registered under the Electronic Crimes Prevention Act (PECA).

Murad was presented in court today after completing two -day pre -trial detention, Express News reported.

Managers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced him before the judicial magistrate Abbas Shah, who ordered Murad to be sent to prison in pre -trial detention after the hearing.

During the hearing, the judicial magistrate Abbas Shah inquired about the material recovered by the FIA, to which the lawyer of Waheed Murad, Iman Mazari, said that Murad had simply cited the words of Akhtar Mengal in a social media position.

Another lawyer, Hadi Ali Chatha, also said that Murad’s first tweet was based on the Mengal Declaration.

After hearing the arguments, the court approved Murad’s post-arrest deposit against 50,000 RS cations.

Earlier, a petition was deposited by the mother-in-law of Waheed Murad through the lawyers Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha, seeking the recovery of the missing journalist. The petition has appointed several senior officials as respondents, including the interior secretary, defense secretary, the Inspector General of Islamabad of the police and the home officer (SHO) of the Karachi Company police station.

A complaint concerning the incident was filed with the Karachi Company police station; However, no official FIR has been recorded.

The petition asked immediate measures to locate and recover Murad, while requesting legal action against those responsible for his alleged abduction.
