- A new Ikea Smart Home switch called Bilresa has just disclosed
- He apparently supports the material for a thread for maximum compatibility
- This means that it should work with Google Home, Apple Homekit and Alexa
IKEA plans to strengthen its offers of smart homes soon, according to a new leak that has revealed an intelligent two buttons switch that supports the material.
An image of the incoming ikea Bilresa (below) was revealed by Homewithapple on the wires (via Notebookcheck). There is no ikea brand on the aircraft, so it is difficult to be completely safe if it is authentic, but it would certainly make sense given the increasingly strong push of IKEA in the supporting devices.
The Bilresa will probably be the first smart switch of IKEA which supports the material further, which means that it should work with your Google Home, Apple Homekit existing and Amazon Alexa Kit. The leak suggests that Bilresa is “still in the internal test phase in Ikea”, so there is currently no estimated launch date, but we can probably expect it in 2025.
Although IKEA already has other smart lighting switches – including the Somrig (above) and Rodret – these are largely limited to controlling the own IKEA accessories, such as its Tradfri lights. Thanks to the support of the material, the Bilresa should play well with your other kit, such as Philips Hue Lights and the best intelligent house devices.
This means that I could take one during a market sweeping, especially if it is as affordable as the current Ikea offers. There is no word yet on Bilresa prices, but the Ikea Styrbar controller costs £ 12 (about $ 15 /25 $ 25), putting it firmly in an impulsive purchase territory.
Ikea embraces the material
Besides its probably tempting price, the attraction of the Ikea Bilresa disclosed will be its versatility. In theory, its material support on the thread should mean that it works with most existing intelligent house kit, which means that you could be creative with your use cases.
Last September, two years after the announcement of the support to come, Ikea finally updated its Smart Home Hub directors with a material support. But the Swedish giant of household items now seems to speed up his offers of smart homes supporting the material.
In a separate leak earlier this month, the Timmerflotte device brilliantly named – which seems to be a temperature and humidity sensor – appeared in certain FCC deposits, which were spotted by CybermodStudio on X (formerly Twitter). Like Bilresa, it seems to support matter.
This means that we should soon have new contenders for our guide on the best intelligent switches, which is currently surmounted by the Philips Hue Tap dial switch and the TP-Link Tapo Smart switch.
However, none of these can be bought alongside a library and meatballs in a huge tableware store.
