- A future Apple Watch could start a tactile glass frame
- The report comes from a Chinese leak on Weibo
- It seems to be based on an Apple patent published this week
Apple seems to work on a future design upgrade to the Apple Watch which could see the company replace its chassis box and its physical buttons with a tactile glass frame, based on new reports.
The prospect of an Apple Watch with a glass frame and a tactile interaction has been floated on the Chinese social media platform Weibo by digital digital instant, specifically in the context that an Apple Watch entirely in glass could arrive in front of an all-glass iPhone.
However, the moment of flight and proximity suggest that this information comes from an Apple certificate which published on March 27, spotted for the first time by apple obviously.
The patent, seen by Techradar and nicknamed in a creative way, “portable electronic device with a glass shell” seems to indicate that Apple envisages a future where its best Apple Watch models have a glass shell and a side wall with a sensitivity to the touch, rather than a titanium or aluminum chassis.
Here’s what we know.
A future in Apple Watch stained glass
The patent refers to a portable device with a glass shell encompassing both the display of the Apple watch and “a side wall extending from the front wall”. Essentially, the front and sides of the watch would be made from glass.
Not only would it seem pretty cool, but it would allow Apple to transform the side walls of the Apple Watch into a touch screen and evolving that could display information and receive touch entries.
The advantage, of course, would be that information and contributions could change depending on the context. For example, if you run a stopwatch, the buttons affected on the side could offer start -up and stop functions. Listen to music, and these buttons could display buttons for a break or a leap of tracks.
It is a possible iteration of a future Apple Watch which is probably in the years, so do not expect an Apple Watch all in ultra 3 or series 11 in September.
Apple has also patented an Apple Watch with a folding, a double program and cameras, and a recent Bloomberg Mark Gurman report suggests that the company plans to add cameras to the device to transform it into a laptop propelled by the AI which can contextualize the world around you.
For me, the idea of a more subtle design adjustment with glass -sensitive glass seems a little more refined than blocking a camera in the Apple Watch, but there is no reason why Apple does not do both at a given time.
Naturally, of course, there is every chance that this patent will never see the light of day and remains an idea on paper only.
More immediately, we know that Apple plans to add blood pressure monitoring of a certain kind to its more premium 2025 models. Meanwhile, those waiting for the Apple Watch SE 3 can expect a fairly large plastic overhaul, which has given Apple design headaches according to the latest reports.
