- Galaxy Watch 8 firmware models appeared
- New smart watches may appear in July
- It is not clear what improvements in the new watch could have
Given how Samsung regularly launches new smart watches, we were already expecting a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 this year, but now there is real evidence of the Galaxy Watch 8 in development.
Tipster @theordysm (via Sammobile) has spotted firmware versions for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, and as you can imagine, there are different model numbers for versions with additional cellular connection capacities on board.
It also seems that there are two sizes of the flagship smartwatch again this year. The current model is available in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, so you can choose the one that best corresponds to the size of your wrist.
And it is almost all the information that we can glean from this particular leak – that the Galaxy Watch 8 is indeed on the way. We will have to wait for other leaks to obtain details on upgrades and all the design changes that could be in store.
Classic and ultra
No surprises here, we know that they are coming, the preparation of Samsung for them is the latest Infobt / Wi-Fi test firmware: SM-L320 / L330 (“GW8”): U0AYC4SM-L500 (“GW8C”): U0AYC4LTE (US): SM-L325U / L335U (“GW8”): U0AYC6SM (“GW8C”): U0AYC6 PIC.TWITTER.COM/CA3HZOC52XMarch 29, 2025
It is not quite the first leak of Galaxy Watch 8 that we saw. In December, the name of the “Galaxy Watch 8 Classic” device was spotted in an industry database – suggesting that a classic model, with a rotating telescope, could return in 2025.
There was no classic model in 2024, but we obtained the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra alongside the Galaxy Watch 7. Samsung could well launch a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 this year also, but there has been no sign so far.
We have also seen a patent suggesting that Samsung is working on a more adjustable and more secure watch strap than that of current models – although it is unlikely that the upgrade is ready for this year watches.
If Samsung sticks to its calendar compared to last year in 2025, we can expect the Galaxy Watch 8 to appear in July – most likely alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, there is therefore the potential of another major unpacled launch event.
