Imran nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Islamabad:

The former Pakistani Prime Minister imprisoned Imran Khan has been appointed for the Nobel Peace Prize for his rings and his efforts for human rights and democracy.

The announcement was made the other day by members of Pakistan World Alliance (PWA) – a plea group founded last December – which also belongs to the Norwegian political parties Sendrum.

“We are pleased to announce on behalf of the Sentrum part who, in alliance with someone with the right to appoint, appointed Mr. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan at the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with Human Rights and Democracy in Pakistan,” said Sentrum on X.

In 2019, Khan was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to promote peace in South Asia.

Each year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of appointments, after which they select the winner thanks to a long eight -month process.

Khan, also founder of the main party of Pakistan Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), has been imprisoned since August 2023. In January, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a case related to the misuse of authority and corruption.

It was the fourth major case in which the former Prime Minister was sentenced. Three previous convictions concerning the sale of state gifts, the flight of state secrets and the illegal marriage have been canceled or suspended by the courts.

Khan lost power after a vote without confidence in April 2022. He denied all the charges against him, calling them politically motivation.
