- Jetkvm is a small KVM product on IP for the full computer remote control of any computer
- He raised more than $ 4 million in crowdfunding of more than 30,000 contributors
- The device includes a USB-CC, Ethernet, HDMI Mini and RJ11 extension for additional modules
Numerous campaigns funded by crowdfunding fail to draw enough promises to transform a project into reality, but this is not the case with JetKVM, an open source KVM of new generation of $ 69 on an IP device which can control any computer remotely.
He was successfully funded on Kickstarter on December 3, 2024, breaking his goal of $ 50,000 with a huge $ 4,370,767 in commitments of 31,598 donors.
Although the campaign has now ended, you can always become a fundaler, and the good news is, you should not have long wait to receive the product, because Jetkvm should start shipping in April 2025.
Rare RJ11 extension
The small hardware device gives you full access to the screen, keyboard and mouse of a computer, as is a physical KVM switch, but on the Internet.
It connects to the HDMI port of the target machine to capture the video and a USB port to imitate the input devices. Once configured, you can control the machine anywhere using a web browser. This is particularly useful for headless systems, unable to respond or access to the remote BIOS.
The device runs a Linux system based on Buildroot, powered by a ROCKCHIP RV1106G3 (Arm Cortex-A7, 1.0 GHz) with coding H.264 and H.265 integrated. It includes 256 MB of RAM DDR3L, 16 GB of EMMC, Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI Mini storage and a unique RJ11 extension port.
The creators say that Jetkvm Streams 1080p Video at 60 images per second with a latency of 30 to 60 ms. Remote access is managed via the JetKVM cloud using webbrtc for peer-to-peer encryption connections. A 1.69 inch touch screen displays local status and commands, and the software, written in Go, is fully open source and modifiable via SSH.
The power supply can be provided via USB-C, RJ11 or PIN header. The RJ11 port, of which we are large fans, supports material extensions such as sensors, control of ATX power or access to the serial console.
Even if JetKVM was successfully funded, then some, we would be negligent if we have not offered our usual crowdfunding: delays occur, the functionalities may change and delivery is not always guaranteed, so please keep this in mind.
