Punjab Minister of Punjab, Azma Bokhari, responded on Thursday’s criticisms of the leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on the controversial channel project, advising them to direct their questions to the president of Pakistan rather than the chief minister of Punjab.

Reacting to the recent press conference of the chief of the PPP, Chaudhry Manzoor, Bokhari said that it would be more suitable for the PPP to first resolve its internal disagreements on the water resources before blaming Punjab, said Express News.

“Sindh says it’s their water, and you [PPP] Say that it belongs to Punjab. The PPP should first decide between them who it really is, ”she said.

Bokhari wondered if Chalehry Manzoor, a Punjab resident, was willing to defend the province. “Can you not fight for the rights of Punjab while living in Punjab?” She asked.

She also allegedly alleged that the politicization of the channels had historically been Sindh’s tactics, but insisted that Punjab does not follow such an approach. “Before pretending to stand with farmers, check if the farmers even stand with you,” she added.

The Minister of Punjab stressed that the province does not use anyone’s rights or authorizes others to carry on itself. “Punjab has always acted as a older brother,” she said.

Reiterating his position on the issue, Bokhari said that instead of criticizing Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz or the provincial government, PPP leaders should direct their concerns to President Zardari. “The PPP should refrain from dragging internal disagreements in the media,” she added.
