Many of us remember January 19, the day Tiktok was erased from application stores before being restored about 12 hours later.
We were told that Tiktok had a new shelf life of 75 days and promised that an American buyer would move soon to save the day.
But today, April 4 is 75 days after January 19 – and we still do not have a contract finalized in place for one of the largest social media platforms in the world with more than 175 million American users.
Is Tiktok again forbidden in the United States?
No, Tiktok will not disappear from application stores – yet
Even if this period of initial grace of 75 days, published by decree of the decree of the presidential management, is now adopted, Tiktok is there to stay … for the moment.
The Trump administration issued another executive decree to keep Tiktok in American application stores for an additional 75 days, making the new deadline on June 18.
He explains in an article on Truth Social: “My administration worked very hard on an agreement to save Tiktok, and we have made a lot of progress. The agreement requires more work to guarantee that all the necessary approvals are signed, which is why I point out an executive order to maintain operational Tiktok for 75 additional days.”

More importantly, Bytedance sent us his first public comment on the potential sale and, to be honest, that no longer seems certain that we hear from President Trump:
“Bytedance was in discussion with the US government concerning a potential solution for Tiktok US, an agreement has not been executed. There are key questions to resolve. Any agreement will be subject to approval under Chinese law,” said a Bytedance spokeperosn in an email sent to Techradar.
The question remains: how many extensions of 75 days will we have before the long-awaited agreement is finalized?
Trump mentions that his administration “does not want Tiktok“ `to be based ”,” but for the moment, we have very little details on the potential agreement in place, and the notes of Bydance there are “key questions” that they still have to resolve.
While we are waiting for the pair to reach an agreement, there are many Tiktok contenders in the mixture.
We are aware of certain interested parties, namely:
But the fate of Tiktok finally looms in the scale because nothing concrete came from one of these potential buyers.
Governments, prices and tiktok
President Trump also addresses prices, which recently made waves while popular technological companies deal with the increase in production and transit costs.
Pre-orders from Nintendo Switch 2 have been announced as delayed in the United States “in the middle of pricing uncertainty” for example, and the Chinese government may not be interested in approving a sale with these heavy fines in place.
Trump explains: “We hope to continue working in good faith with China, which, I understand, are not very satisfied with our reciprocal rates (necessary for fair trade and balanced between China and the United States!). This proves that prices are the most powerful economic tool, and very important for our national security!”
It is undoubtedly a rocky sea to sail, but at least we know that we still have 75 days of misfortune to do in front of us.
