The federal government has appointed the senior police officer Riffat Mukhtar Raja as a new director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to an official notification issued by the establishment division.
Riffat, a 21 -year -old Pakistan police officer (PSP), previously was an inspector general of the National Highway & Motorway Police (NH & MP) and also held the position of Sindh police chief in the past.
He brings a vast experience of the police at FIA, taking charge of the country’s first investigative body at a critical time.
In a separate decision, Waqar-Ud-Din Syed was appointed first director general of the new National Agency for Cyber Crime (NCCIA), which operates under the internal division.
Waqar, an officer of the 20th year PSP and former director of FIA Cybercrime Circle, recently received the Sitara-E-Imtiaz for his role in the fight against online crime.
The appointments reflect the government placed by the government on strengthening the capacity for investigation and cybersecurity in the midst of increasing threats.
The establishment’s division confirmed the appointments by an official notification.
