A European civil aviation team is expected to visit Pakistan next week to provide, for the first time, training and certification specializing in security for airport regulators, according to the civil aviation authority (CAA).
The team of two members, sent to the European Union directive, will trace air security personnel at Islamabad airport, Express News reported.
The sessions will focus on satisfying international standards, especially in the fields of detecting explosive (ETD) and explosive detection dogs (EDD).
A CAA spokesperson has confirmed that the initiative aims to align Pakistan’s air security protocols with recognized landmarks, improving the overall security of the airport.
“This is an important step in our efforts to bring aviation security to Pakistan to international standards,” said the spokesperson.
Last year, the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) officially raised the suspension of the PIA and granted authorization to AirBlue to operate flights to Europe, marking an important stage for the aviation sector of Pakistan.
This development restores direct air links between Pakistani and European destinations, following a ban that has been in place since 2020.
The Minister of Aviation, Khawaja Asif, confirmed the news, declaring that the lifting of the suspension and the new authorization for Airblue were made possible due to the targeted efforts of the Ministry of Aviation to strengthen the standards of the Civil Aviation Civil Aviation (PCAA) and to improve the surveillance of security in accordance with the international standards of the civil aviation civil organization (OCAO).
