Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari, Dr. Asim Hussain, has strongly denied rumors circulating on the president’s state of health.

Speaking at a press conference held at Ziauddin Clifton hospital on Saturday, Dr. Asim rejected the reports and images broadcast on social networks and Indian news channels as “false and deceptive”.

According to Dr. Asim, President Zardari’s state has improved considerably and is expected to be released from the hospital in a day or two.

“I regret that the baseless news concerning the president’s health are distributed by the Indian media and social platforms,” said Dr. Asim. “President Zardari was in Nawabshah last Saturday after having traveled from Islamabad. He called me the day of Eid saying that he did not feel well.”

Dr. Asim also explained that the president later reported chills and fever. Because of medical facilities limited to Nawabshah, Dr. Asim traveled there that evening and arranged for the president to be transferred to Karachi on Monday, where he was admitted to the hospital and suffered medical tests.

“The tests confirmed that President Zardari had contracted COVID-19,” said Dr. Asim. “Fortunately, his condition is much better now. A senior team of doctors watches him, and he should be released soon. ”

He stressed that COVID-19 still exists in Pakistan, although antiviral drugs are now available. Dr. Asim also discussed disinformation spreads, saying: “The president has blood pressure and diabetes, but there is no reason for panic. Political opponents can say what they want, and India is already our opponent – but this type of propaganda is inappropriate. “

Asked about the authenticity of the video sequences circulating online, Dr. Asim replied: “Whether the president releases or not the images of the hospital is his political decision. All clips on social networks are false. “

Dr. Asim concluded by urging the public not to believe that unaccounts and has assured that President Zardari receives the best medical care.
