Windows 11 finally begins to take a real momentum while the flagship operating system continues during its long trip to exceed Windows 10 – an important step that could occur in the coming months.
A significant increase in the first months of 2025 means that the adoption of Windows 11 is now 42.7% (in March 2025), with Windows 10, the installations falling at 54.2% (via Statcounter)
If the recent trends continue, it is possible that the adoption of Windows 10 falls below 50% next month – Windows 11 exceeds that Windows 10 is not so far behind.
Windows 11 set to exceed Windows 10?
Sudden growth is largely due to the end of the end of the support of Windows 10, which arrived in October 2024, leading to generalized improvements of companies to avoid disturbances.
By exploring 2024 as a whole, analysts of the channel industry noted the use of aggressive vacation discounts to bring consumers to spend more after a fairly stagnant year. The twelve month period experienced a poor increase of 3.9% of PC shipments worldwide, but the company remained optimistic for the coming year.
“The PC market is expected to accelerate growth, mainly driven by commercial demand while businesses are preparing for the end of Windows 10,” noted the main analyst Ishan Dutt.
Companies are in the middle of refreshing equipment in order to make more systems compatible with Windows 11, although the user’s interest has been fairly low with the operating system with some remarkable applications and essentials.
Since the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft has been busy making an end to endless features in office computers and laptops around the world in the hope that consumers and businesses could be more eager to upgrade, not to miss, hence the emergence of a new category of PC – The Copilot PC.
AI compatible PCs represented almost one in four (23%) of all PCs in the last three months of 2024; Canalys provides that this figure is 35% for 2025.
