PJ Blue, a former university football player who played the secondary for the Cardinals of Louisville, died, the school announced on Monday.
He was 27 years old.
The native of Alabama signed in Louisville in 2016 but suffered a torn LCA before he could make his collegial debut. When he was on the field in 2018, Blue succeeded 39 plated in 11 games. He missed the 2019 season after undergoing another knee injury and no longer played.

“We are saddened by the death of Cardinal Forever PJ Blue,” said Louisville in an article on social networks. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones.”
A cause of death has not been announced.
University football fans have sent their condolences to Blue and their family on social networks.

Blue entered university as a very popular high school prospect. He was a nominated All-American All-American and US Army after being appointed to the All-Metro First-Team All-State team at Park Cross High School.
Louisville’s defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said he was “excited” about Blue in the program.
“Whenever you can get big guys who can run and hit, you are going to be good in defense. He’s a guy who is length, is the size, is the ability to run. He has a flexibility of position. … I think he has a brilliant future,” he said, via the Courier Journal.

Blue received offers from Alabama, Clemson and Ole Miss, among others, but chose Louisville.
