- The White House updates its AI directives for faster modernization
- Federal agencies should adopt AI to various titles
- The name of the Chief Officers of the AI is still required
The White House has published two updated directives of “America” to modernize the federal government, at the risk of withdrawing some of the guarantees set up to protect citizens and businesses.
Changes are part of President Trump’s pressure to maintain American world domination in artificial intelligence and reverse certain guarantees left from the Biden era.
Overall, the objective seems to be to maximize efficiency and remove unnecessary steps so that the United States can continue to develop technology and its implementation at a rapid rate, preventing it from being left behind.
Trump wants us to remain an AI leader
Anxious to demonstrate the action as well as the intention, Lynne Parker, main assistant director of the White House OSTP, said: “This administration focuses on the encouragement and promotion of American IA and world leadership, which begins with the use of these emerging technologies within the federal government.”
Parker added that new policies would provide “essential advice” while “deleting unnecessary bureaucratic restrictions”.
Artificial intelligence is not only a tool that can be connected to the computers of knowledge workers for certain improvements in productivity.
The Ministry of Justice uses technology to better understand drug trafficking, while the Ministry of Veterans Affairs uses AI for the identification and analysis of lung cancer.
Like Biden’s previous decree, the Trump administration calls on agencies to appoint the heads of AI heads to assume responsibility and guide their teams with more structure.
Despite the desire for rapid growth, the memorandum continues to underline the importance of continuous security: “Thanks to this memorandum, agencies are responsible for providing improved services to the public, while retaining solid guarantees to civil rights, civil freedoms and private life.”
