- PowerColor launched a new white GPU Radeon RX 9070 XT Red Devil Spectral at $ 899.99
- Its Hellhound model is available at $ 849.99
- Best Buy is even older DNA 3 GPU at high prices above their pdsf
If you thought that the GPU market would be better after the recent pricing problems, think again: unfortunately, there is yet another huge price increase, this time on an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT partner card.
As Videocardz reported, PowerColor launched a white GPU Radeon RX 9070 XT Overclocké, with a price at $ 899.99 – which is a ridiculous $ 300.99 more than the PDSF of $ 599 of the card. This is presented alongside the Hellhound variant of PowerColor on Micro Center, at a price of $ 849.99.
This is a decision similar to another partner of the board of directors of AMD’s: I previously underlined the XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT on Best Buy, which was sold for up to $ 939.99 at the time, and we now see a similar model with PowerColor models. The same goes for the older DNA 3 GPUs, with prices higher than the PDSF, despite the age of more than two years.
Although there are currently prices on goods imported into the United States – which could make prices even more absurd in the near future – these price increases occur well before Trump kicks off his pricing war. From the moment when the NVIDIA RTX 5000 series was launched, the price increases of several retailers entered into force.
It should also be noted that the GPUs of the Radeon RX 9070 series of AMD were originally sold at retail price (at least during the launch), and now it has changed entirely in the space of a few weeks. It can be said that this problem stems from a lack of availability and a shortage of GPU matrices (in particular with such high GPU demand from consumers, and new hunger for silicon in the booming AI industry), but this is not the first time that retailers and AIB have increased prices to ridiculous amounts.
Is the GPU market about a major accident?
From the 2020 pandemic, GPU average prices have increased enormously, with several PC players attempted to spend too much – so it’s not exactly a new event. This current state of the GPU market is literally the worst that I have seen, as I have already said, and with prices now involved, this could be the start of a graphic market accident.
He’s a tall could be, However, because there are clearly a large number of consumers arranged to buy these swollen GPUs, as most are sold in most retailers. Anyway, given the way things are now, I can only see prices constantly increase and leave more and more PC players unable to buy new equipment.
The RTX 5080 is already expensive at its retail price ($ 999 / £ 939 / $ 2,019 in), and partner cards take this up to $ 1,500 (depending on the lists of better purchases). As large as the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, I would say that there are very few players who would be ready to spend this kind of figures just for an improved experience with better performance.
I would hate seeing it, but we could soon reach a point where consumers withdraw from all the GPU upgrades: with Nvidia and AMD on the now very clear AI, we could attend a slow and painful decrease in priority for GPUs for the Green Team and Team Red …
