The Punjab School Education Department imposed a new clothing code for teachers, following a similar decision in the Sindh.
A notification issued by the Department indicates that male teachers from public schools are prohibited from carrying jeans and t-shirts.
Teachers and students are also invited not to come to school by making excessive makeup, high heels or expensive jewelry. In addition, teachers must wear Shalwar Kameez with dupattas or hijabs.
The new dress code aims to ensure that teachers maintain the holding reflecting professional and cultural values.
The ministry stressed that strict measures will be taken against teachers who do not comply with the directives. Private schools have also been responsible for enforcing the dress code among their staff.
The decision is part of continuous efforts to maintain discipline and respect for cultural norms within educational establishments.
