Member of the National Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) submitted two legislative bills to the National Assembly, asking for amendments to Pakistan Citizenship Act and Pakistan Code.

According to NewsThe first bill, entitled The Pakistan Citizenship bill (amendment), proposed to grant citizenship rights to individuals – or their parents – born in former East Pakistan or those who emigrated to Pakistan between 1971 and 1982 after the fall of Dacca.

The bill noted: “The people of East Pakistan made sacrifices for the country and has migrated to Western Pakistan after the fall of Dacca. This law aims to guarantee their rights of citizenship.”

The second bill proposed changes to the Pakistan Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code to make the phone and street flights are officially punishable.

Article 382 proposed indicates that people recognized guilty of these crimes can be arrested without a mandate and cannot be eligible for a deposit.

The bill highlighted the need to respond to the growing threat of street crime on public roads and in urban areas. It stipulates that legal changes are necessary to empower the police and ensure that the judiciary can take effective measures.
