Sullivan turned out to have contributed to the Wagner women’s team in the leaf competition during several games during the first half of the 2024-25 season. Sullivan participated in the men’s team during the 2023-24 season, competition matches were shown during the season.
The NCAA modified its transgender-inclusion policy after President Donald Trump signed the executive decree “No Men in Women’s Sports”.
“A student-athlete assigned to birth may not compete in a female team,” said politics.
Sullivan was at the opening of Cherry Blossom and was to face Stephanie Turner.
Turner decided to take a knee to protest against Sullivan’s inclusion in competition and transgender-participation policies of the USA Fencing. Turner spoke to PK Press Club Digital about his decision to protest and, finally, to be expelled from the event.

“This is a serious problem that happens in all sports, and it is necessary to solve. There is a difference between men and women,” said Turner. “This is a movement of civil rights for women and girls, and I give priority to security and rights and the protection of women and girls in relation to trans-identified men.”
USA Fencing has since defended its transgender participation policies.
The team of the Sullivan club, emblemia of closing, supported the shooter after the event with Turner.
“RED followed all the rules and guidelines set out by the FIE and USA fence, according to the press release.” She has the right to participate in the events for which she is qualified and has long met the criteria to do so.
“The fence is rooted in a deep tradition of honor, sporting spirit, inclusion and respect, and in a sport that prides itself on these values, the type of behavior expressed by Red’s opponent has no place. The emblematic closing club supports red in his fencing trip and will continue to do so in the future.”
