- Sony releases four new products to its “powerful and heavy” ULT range
- The range includes tower 9, field 5 and field speakers, plus a microphone ult
- Price from $ 150 (around £ 120) for the microphone and $ 200 for the field of field 3
Sony is gradually transitting all its XBASS prefixed speakers to its range of “bass” and “powerful and enormous and huge” ultal power sounds. After unveiling four ULT brand products in 2024 (three models of Bluetooth speakers, including the Sony Field 7, plus the Mi-Plage Ult Wear headphones), the company has just launched four other ULT brand purchases for 2025.
Unfortunately, there are no headphones in the ULT class of April 2025, but there is a beast of a tower speaker called Tower 9. It is available in a battery-powered option with 25 hours of endurance or an ac-subixed model which must be connected.
This is joined by a medium-sized Bluetooth speaker, also with a 25-hour battery and, this time, a rating of ip67 and sealing dust, plus a smaller field 3 with 24 hours of non-stop play and an IP66 note.
The two most portable field models are delivered with a detachable shoulder strap, but the three speakers’ options have a new one-shop shop from a companion application to modify all the settings: Sony Sound Connect. It essentially removes fiestable applications and music center which shared work (somewhat confusing).
On this point, Sony’s 360 ° festive lights are available both in the Ult 9 tower and Ult Field 5 to give life to the party. All speakers include other practical Sony features, such as Party Connect, Multipoint Connection, Bluetooth Fast Pair 7 and a USB loading port.
It is therefore a summary of what is going on. But let’s do a little more diving in each model – and even add micro…
Sony Ult Tower 9, Field 5, Field 3 and MIC: Key specifications and price
The Ult Tower 9 (stylized in “Tower” in Sony Marketing) and Ult Tower 9AC are built to fill dance floors with a 360 ° festive sound. The only difference is the on-board battery (the 9ac does not have one), so the two have four tweeters which promise a clear omnidirectional sound (two at the front, two at the rear), two mid-range speakers and the X-Équilibuted speakers unit of Sony to deliver the powerful promised low-end.
And this is where it becomes interesting: to hit the ULT button on Tower 9 gives access to two distinct low modes – Ult1 for “deeper and lower bass” and Ult2 for “powerful and impactful bass”. There is a handful to transport or lift it, but given its size, I would use integrated breadcrumbs to pull this speaker in the best place.
360 ° festive lights can create a synchronized lighting screen which can bind up to 100 compatible speakers via the new Sound Connect application to music and synchronization lighting.
Here, you also get karaoke and guitar inputs and Sony TV soundtrack to improve the audiovisual sound experience of your TV.
From now on, field 5 and field 3 have a new strap for easy tunes on the go. Field 5 promises “a superior musical experience with boosted bass”, while the Ult 3 field has “a powerful bass of a compact body”.
You get this ULT button in the two models for two audio flavors stimulated by different bass. The two are available in broken black and white, with an additional forest gray color for the ULT 3 field. The lights of the 360 ° party are also added to the ULT 5 field to give life to the party – or if you want to synchronize it in turn 9.
Finally, let’s talk about the new micro Ult (or the microphone, as Sony calls it). It is designed to perfectly associate with the speakers in the Sound Ult Power series of Sony and includes two wireless microphones and a receiver to connect to the compatible speaker.
Price? Of course. We are still waiting for the official retail figures for Australia, but the Ult Tower 9AC is now available with a suggested application of $ 749.99 / £ 600 (the electric tower 9 is $ 899.99 / £ 850); Ult Field 5 is now available at a price of $ 329.99 / £ 260; Ult Field 3 is now available with a PDSF of $ 199.99 / £ 180 and the Micro Ult is now available with a guidance price of $ 149.99 / £ 130.
