While Chatgpt has been working very well for almost two hours since the announcement of the improved memory function, the service has not been without its breakdowns in recent weeks. In particular, the image generation burden has caused certain problems, including the merger of GPUs.
Sam Altman posted on X, noting that “the use gone crazy during the last month” for Openai, but that the team was able to bring together more resources. How? Well, he just asked the Internet.
He promised that the rate limits and the chatgpt speed would also continue to improve.
The use of Openai has become crazy in the last month. But one surprisingly cool thing is that you can ask the internet “hey can we please get hundreds of thousands of GPU faster” and … Internet will deliver.April 10, 2025
The memory is not entirely new in the Chatppt
It should be noted that Chatgpt already remembered, and the AI assistant had a little memory.
The upgrades of today are exactly that: an upgrade of existing memory, being now labeled as “new improved memory” by Chatgpt.
The idea is that when you ask chatgpt something, it can look back and refer to past conversations to provide more precise and useful answers to your whole question. It is in a way to build a rolodex on everything you have discussed to help better help and respond to a given request.
The AI can take up the trends by itself, but you can also ask Chatgpt directly to remember something when you converse with it via typed text or when you really speak in voice mode.
You will know once your account has been upgraded with smarter memory via this splash screen.
Again, it takes place now for professional users, and the more subscribers will get it shortly after. It is also confirmed that those who have Chatgpt, business or education team accounts will obtain functionality in a few weeks.
We also have our first official overview of how this improved memory in Chatgpt will work, thanks to a teaser published on the @openai X account.
In this document, we can see that when you ask: “What we talked about this weekend”, this will summarize the subjects covered in the chips exploded per day. In addition, you can then follow, as you would with any old Chatgpt conversation, allowing you to ask if you have discussed corresponds to what you have discussed at any time of its memorized history.
From today, memory in Chatgpt can now reference all your past cats to provide more personalized answers, based on your preferences and your interests to make it even more useful for writing, obtaining advice, learning and beyond. pic.twitter.com/s9brwl94iyApril 10, 2025
You can unsubscribe
If the idea of a chatbot has remembered everything you say does not interest you, Openai has programmed two ways to get around this in the Chatppt.
You can either remove entirely from memory or use a new feature called temporary conversations. This will allow you to start a new conversation that will not recall or do not impact memory.
This is perhaps the best approach, especially if you are mainly on board with Sam Altman’s point of view that AI systems should know you.
While chatgpt pro subscribers have access to improved memory at the moment, those who have a chatgpt plus plan should be there soon.
Sam Altman turns off a little more light in an answer, noting that it should be in the coming days.
In a series of announcements of ads on X (formerly Twitter), Altman has shown that he considers this range of features as a fairly major fall.
Writing: “It is a surprisingly formidable functionality IMO, and it points to something that fascinates us: AI systems that know you during your life and become extremely useful and personalized.”
Obviously, the Openai team considers it as a big step forward and, ultimately, a push to make the assistant and the Chatbot of AI even more useful. He also alludes to the future for Openai, because an objective allows these AI systems to learn to know with whom he conversed. This could refer to future AI agents, much more advanced large -language models and this rumor equipment.

Now, we are impatient to try this new memory function, but my colleague launches Ulanoff – the Techradar editor -in -chief – The Chatgpt Plus account, does not yet have the memory function or did not know that it is a new feature.
However, this improvement could be very useful for examining the conversations you had with Chatgpt without having to scroll manually.
The major change here, as Altman describes, is that Chatgpt can now refer to the previous conversations that you have had with the AI assistant. Of course, it will be an opt -in functionality and will play with the idea – and quest for AI manufacturers – that AI should know a lot about you and ultimately be personalized according to your needs.
Openai is not lost either. The improved chatgpt memory function is now deployed for professional users in certain countries, excluding the United Kingdom, EEA, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. It will eventually arrive for more subscribers, but there is no word at the moment when it strikes free users.

Now, just after 1 pm, and as we predicted, Sam Altman announced that Optai has “a considerably improved memory in the Chatppt”

Here is the original post on X which started the train of something new from Openai today.
Sometimes I wake up early and I can’t fall asleep because we are launching a new feature that has been so excited for so long. Today is one of these days!April 10, 2025
