Lahore:
The High Court of Lahore (LHC) announced on Thursday its verdict reserved on an intra-short appeal contesting the appointment of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar as Vice-Prime Minister and rejected the petition as non-presenable.
A bench of two members led by judge Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal confirmed the previous decision of the single bench, which had also rejected the plea.
The court observed that, Prima facie, the Constitution authorizes the Prime Minister to assign a post to a deputy or to an elderly person.
The detailed judgment will be rendered later.
During the hearing, the additional prosecutor Nasar Ahmad opposed the call, who was filed by a citizen, Ashba Kamran. The petition had appointed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others as respondents.
