Noor Zaman of Pakistan won the World Squash under 23 championship, beating Karim El Turky 3-2 in Egypt in a hard-played final at the DA Creek Club in Karachi.
The Noor Zaman of Pakistan obtained the title of the World Squash Championship under 23 after a 3-2 victory over Karim El Turky of Egypt in the male final, held at the DA Creek Club in Karachi.
Zaman, who credited his success at hard work and in divine favor, brought the gold medal back following a tense and closely disputed match.
In the female event, Fairooz Aboulkheir, in Egypt, came out victorious after a straight victory against the fourth seed of Hong Kong, Chan Sin Yuk, winning the title with a result of 3-0.
The two champions received a gold medal, the winner trophy and a price of $ 5,250 each. The finalists received silver medals and $ 3,450 each.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Zaman for his victory, congratulating him to have increased the profile of Pakistan in international sport. “The whole nation is proud. God wants it, Pakistan will recover its lost glory in the squash,” he said.

President Asif Ali Zardari also congratulated, welcoming Zaman for his performance throughout the tournament and expressing his success in the future.
The Sindh -chief Minister Murad Ali Shah attended the closing ceremony as a representative of the president and praised the event as an important stage in the history of the squash. “The organization of the first world squash U23 championship is an honor for Pakistan,” said Shah.
He underlined the historic value of squash in Pakistan and reiterated the government’s commitment to feed young talents and restore the country’s inheritance in sport. Shah also recognized the efforts of the Pakistani squash federation, the Sindh government, the DHA and the Pakistan Air Force in the promotion of the squash.
The championship has marked an important moment in the resumption of Pakistan squash, with the local authorities and the World Federation of Squash expressing optimism about the future of sport in the region.
