- Polar launches the fitness program, an “addition based on the subscription to the polar ecosystem”
- It is a four -week adaptive training program costing € 9.99 (around $ 11 / £ 8.50 / $ 18)
- The announcement comes after the disastrous reception of Garmin Connect +
Polar, manufacturer of some of the best watches in progress, revealed its new fitness program to its Polar Flow application, an addition based on the subscription to the polar ecosystem “costing € 9.99 (around $ 11 / £ 8.50 / $ 18 per month.
For the price, you have access to a personalizable four -week training program claimed to be adaptive, supported by science and based on data collected from user polar accounts.
Users obtain weekly and monthly awards (although what these awards consist are not specified) and would be “an ideal supplement for users who have requested new more adaptable ways to train”.
In a press release, Polar said that the polar flow will remain free and a subscription is not necessary to “take full advantage” of polar products or the polar flow service.
Polar must be painfully aware of the disastrous reception of the Connect + initiative by Garmin, a paid level in addition to its Connect application previously free. We saw a ton of readers write with their Garmin Connect +complaints, fearing that future new Garmin features, which would have previously been free updates from Garmin watches dear to users, be paid.
The language of the official press release that we have seen uses words such as “personalized” and “adaptable”, which generally means “AI” in technological circles. Garmin use of generative AI to create questionable information has been a lot of stick on social networks.
However, there are differences between the polar approach in terms of higher level and Garmin: a polar spokesperson contacted me and the AI is used at a certain level to adapt the programs to individuals, but the generator, responsible for setting up the analyzes of Garmin in sentences and friendly convictions, is not used.
Polar spokesperson has also confirmed the company’s position on the implementation of new features behind a paid wall, declaring: “The new fitness program does not affect the development of other polar services” and would continue to deploy new features to users of each level.
The fitness program is available for Android users now in the EU, Norway and the United Kingdom. The iOS enlargement is expected later in the year.
