Three people, including two Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police officers, were killed early on Sunday in a firearm attack against an accused department in the Pabbi region of the Nowshera District.

The shot occurred around 2 a.m. when unidentified attackers in a double -cabinet vehicle opened the fire after being reported to stop.

The gendarmes Mujahid Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed were killed on the spot, while the sub-inspector Farooq Bacha suffered several ball injuries. His driver was also fatally shot dead.

Bacha was transferred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar in critical condition, according to the authorities.

The funeral prayers for the police killed took place later in the morning on the police lines, which attended the police chief of KP Qasim Khan and senior officials.

Head Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack and promised total support to the families of the victims.

“Justice will be done,” he said, ordering the authorities to quickly apprehend the culprits.

The KP-chief secretary also requested a detailed report, noting that the accused officials had been actively involved in counter-counterband operations.

“Their sacrifices will not be in vain,” he said, promising to extend the repression of drugs and illicit trade.

The aggression comes in the midst of an increase in violence targeting the security forces in KP. One day earlier, the district police officer Shah Hassan survived an explosion of remote control IED in Shangla.
