In an unusual legal battle, a Chinese woman identified by her family name Wang, successfully continued her former employer for unjustified dismissal after being dismissed for leaving work a minute earlier over six days in a single month.

The case, which drew attention to its apparently insignificant reasons for dismissal, arrived at a local court in Guangdong province, where Wang had been employed for three years with a commendable performance record.

According to the Morning post in southern ChinaThe Court ruled in favor of Wan, declaring that his departure one minute before his official time could be planned to leave work early.

The court also stressed that the company without name had not issued previous warnings or attempted to rectify Wang’s behavior before abruptly ends its job. The dismissal was only based on surveillance files, indicating his early departure.

The court’s decision explicitly considered the dismissal of illegal Wang, citing a lack of sufficient evidence and unreasonable actions of the company.

The amount of the compensation that Wang must receive from his former employer has not been disclosed.

According to Wang, it was at the end of last year that its human resources director (HR) called him to tell him that the office surveillance files showed that she had left her headquarters a minute earlier over six days in a month.

After his dismissal, Wang continued legal action by fileing a complaint with the Local Labor Rights Authority before carrying out his business in court.
