More than 60 Pakistani pilgrims in OMRA remain blocked in a Saudi airport for a second consecutive day after missing their planned flight due to mismanagement of airlines, Express News reported.
The pilgrims, who were to go home via a Saudi airline, say they were left behind at the airport show without a clear communication or communication of the airline staff.
“No one has helped us despite hours in the living room. We have been stuck here for two days,” said one of the pilgrims affected at local media.
According to travelers, a representative of the Pakistani Embassy in Saudi Arabia contacted them and collected their contact details, but no concrete measure has yet been taken to facilitate their return.
Sources have suggested that the group were left to the airport due to procedural complications with flight management, although no official explanation has been provided.
The efforts to repatriate blocked pilgrims have so far failed to materialize, which raises concerns concerning the lack of coordination between the airline and the diplomatic authorities.
On Monday evening, the pilgrims continued to wait at the airport without confirmed return flight, urging both the airline and the Pakistani embassy to accelerate their arrangements. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have not yet published official statements concerning the situation.
