- A new rumor suggests that the next flagship phone of Xiaomi could display a battery of 7,000 mAh
- This could see Xiaomi almost double the capacity of the battery of the iPhone 16 of the current generation
- The Xiaomi 16 is extremely unlikely to come to the United States
Another day, another rumor of futuristic specifications concerning a Chinese phones manufacturer – this time, we have heard of a major step in the mobile battery capacity of the Xiaomi technology giant.
The people of Phonearena have spotted a Weibo position by a notable Smart Pikachu prediction, which claims that the Xiaomi 16 could be equipped with a massive battery of 7,000 mAh, which would make the Xiaomi 16 the first phone with a battery of this capacity.
Before digging this, allow me to warn the tip by noting that this post has been translated from Chinese using the translation option in Google Chrome, so that this information is not clear. But the hashtag smart pikachu uses seems to be in reference to the Xiaomi 16, and Phonearea thinks that the “7” in the post translated (which I captured and published below) refers to the size of the battery.
We only recently saw the phones approaching and crossing the 6,000 mAh mark, and the current generation Xiaomi 15 has a 5 240 mAh battery – so 7,000mAh seems to be a very ambitious target.
The Xiaomi 15 was launched this year, we therefore expect the Xiaomi 16 to start at one point in 2026 – as Phonearena points out, it is the same year that we plan to see the iPhone 18, the Samsung Galaxy S26 and the launch of the Google Pixel 11 series.
In fact, a 7,000 mAh battery would put the Xiaomi 16 at the forefront of what is even possible for a flagship smartphone – there are phones on the market with larger cells, but they are generally robust and high phones.
Our in -depth review of Xiaomi 15 revealed that the lifespan of the phone battery is impressive, especially for a compact frame phone – it is easy to see that an increase of 33% up to 7,000 mAh could take Xiaomi flagship in the highest ladder of mobile battery champions.
And although I still think that 7,000 mAh is a high target, it is true that the manufacturers of Android phones – especially Chinese companies – have advanced at the rate with regard to battery equipment. It made me think about the fact that a certain giant of Cupertino -based technology will seek to catch up as soon as possible.
Capacity opacity

Apple is famous with its mobile battery capacities, rather choosing to list the practical lifespan of the battery of an iPhone in video reading hours.
This is probably for the best, because the exact figures recovered from demons and deconstructions after the exit show that iPhones rarely have batteries as large as their Android counterparts.
For example, the iPhone 16 has a battery of 3,561 mAh – less than the 4,000 mAh cell found in the Samsung Galaxy S25. The Google Pixel 9 is well in advance, at 4700mAh-which is closer to the iPhone 16 and 4,674 mAh of cell (which is itself undersized compared to cells from 5,000 to 6,000 mAh found in larger phones from Oppo, Samsung and Xiaomi).
This does not mean that iPhones do not offer a good battery life – in recent years, in particular Apple seems to have increased its game with the optimization of software and electrical efficiency – but iPhones are rarely considered as battery animals in the way the best Android phones are.
I wonder if the arrival of an Android phone – the Xiaomi 16 or even another model – with a battery of 7,000 mAh could change that. For reference, it’s almost double The capacity of the iPhone 16, a feat made activated by the technology of silicon-carbon-saving and efficiency silicon batteries.
Apple has always been content to do its own thing with regard to the material, but I’m not sure it would be happy to have the iPhone also obviously lapĂ© by Xiaomi.
Optimisticly, I would like to see Apple a little frightened by this rumor of Xiaomi – as mentioned, the iPhone 16 already draws a lot of its relatively small battery thanks to the effective chipsets of Apple and the tight software integration.
A battery of 4,000 mAh, or even larger, could see the iPhone that meets its strong processing performance, cameras and software in the battery department.
However, with Xiaomi showing no sign of entering the American market as soon as it is possible that Apple does not even examine the latter rumor in its planning. However, I hope that Apple will be able to give the best iPhones a little more juice in future generations.
