At least 10 people lost their lives and many others were injured Tuesday in a frontal collision between a passenger van and a trailer on the Indus motorway in the Karak district of Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to rescue officials.
The fatal accident occurred when a passenger coach, traveling from Dera Ismail Khan to Peshawar, collided with a truck near Meetha Khel.
The rescue teams, as well as local residents, responded quickly to the scene. Several passengers have been trapped inside the wreckage, requiring joint efforts to extract the wounded and the deceased.
The bodies were transported to the hospital headquarters (DHQ) in Karak, while four of the seriously injured were transferred to Peshawar for advanced medical care. Two of them died later in the hospital.
According to rescue sources, all the victims were residents of Miran Shah.
Police confirmed that the trailer driver, who was also injured in the incident, was placed in police custody. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
