The sisters of imprisonment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) founder of President Imran Khan were again prevented from meeting him at Adiala prison on Tuesday, which prompted a demonstration by the road by Aleema Khan outside the establishment.
On what was planned as a day visiting Imran, the family members of his wife Bushra Bibi, as well as several lawyers, arrived at Rawalpindi prison.
However, when Imran’s sisters tried to go through the Gorakhpur checkpoint, they were refused entry. To protest, Aleema Khan left her vehicle and sat on the sidewalk, refusing to leave.
Addressing journalists, Aleema said the police had already detained and left them in an isolated area after a similar attempt to meet their brother. “If they stop us again here, sit here. They deceived us the last time, we will not move today, ”she said.
Asked about the previous assertion of the prison administration that Khan did not wish to meet his family, Aleema laughed at suggestion.
“Is it something that someone would believe? He demanded a meeting and made noise inside the prison,” she said, citing a family witness.
She also allegedly alleged that the authorities used delay tactics and created obstacles to prevent them from seeing it.
Aleema added that as long as the three sisters were allowed to enter together, they degenerate their protest.
“We do not accept any less formula. We are going together or not at all, ”she told journalists.
Legal representatives, including lawyer Ali Zafar and Barrister Gohar, were also present outside the prison, although Deema said they were also invited not to defend the family’s visit.
Similar scenes took place earlier this month when the sisters were arrested in the same place, briefly detained, then fell away from the site.
The incident has fueled the concerns of PTI supporters on Imran’s access to his family’s access.
Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of the country, remains incarcerated for several expenses, while legal battles continue to follow the eviction of his government by a parliamentary vote of non-confidence in 2022.
