In what we can only suppose, it is a potential thumb in the eye of Elon Musk, the Open IA of Sam Altman would consider building a social network, perhaps within Chatgpt.
This comes from a new report by The Verge, which says this week that the social network possibly built above the Openai IA services is only at the “early stages”. However, he could set up Chatgpt and other Openai platforms for a head-on-one battle with Grok, a generative AI platform built above the X of Elon Musk (formerly Twitter).
There is essentially no details on what this social platform could look like, and Openai has little experience with the content that can be shared apart from what its models can generate and what you can see in Sora (the Video Generation System) of other people.
Take that, x
The fact that this rumor is there could have little to do with the development of behind the scenes and more to do with the current battle of Altman with the former partner Musk.
The couple founded Openai together before Musk moved away in 2018. He has since criticized and continued Openai to, among other things, to become, in part at least, a for -profit entity (see the partnership of Openai with Microsoft and the rise in power).
Suppose for a moment, however, that it is real. Why would Openai want to build a social network? In a word: data.
If millions flock to the platform and start, I suppose, sharing memes generated by AI, they will abandon a ton of rich data in the OpenAi system. If users allow, future versions of the GPT model could be formed there. Real data and activities that show how real people think, speak, act, create, etc., can be invaluable for a young generative model.
Social timing is everything
I wonder if it could have made more sense a year or two when Musk resumed Twitter, transformed it into X, deleted numerous railing of protective content and transformed it into a landscape of hell of social media. It was then that Meta’s sons rushed for the first time. He was followed in notoriety by Bluesky. The two are distributed social networks, which means that no one has your identity or your data.
Their growth has been remarkable and contrasts with the fortune of X. Depending on which you are talking about, the active growth of users stagnates or shrinks. But that does not mean that the appetite of the public for more alternative platforms increases. The growth of threads has slowed down and Bluesky is relatively low compared to X and threads.
The action is mainly on image and video platforms such as Snapchat, Tiktok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. The penis report does not mention the video, which leads us to assume that it could be another micro-blogging style network-something that no one necessarily needs or, perhaps, wants.
Despite this, as an opportunity to ensure that Elon Musk a little more Agita, it is probably a worthy altman test ball.
