Several staff members, including two nurses, were injured during the Khan Younis Koweti Field Hospital strike, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health and Health, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, told journalists in the regular drop in New York.
The incident follows a separate strike on Sunday at the Arab hospital Al-Ahli in Gaza City, which had been a key establishment dealing with the victims of Israeli air strikes in the north.
“The latest strikes on hospitals still paralyze the Gaza health system,” said Dujarric.
“There are currently very few beds available in hospitals and patients are hosted in tents.”
He added that, according to the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), only 21 of the 36 hospitals in Gaza remain “partially partially functional” and have almost all undergone damage in the conflict.
He also reported that, according to health partners, there was an urgent need for thousands of blood units for vital operations.
In addition, food warehouses have reached serious food concerns have reached “very low levels” because no help has entered Gaza in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, in the midst of devastation, a rare moment of relief came while humanists in Gaza managed to install a rescue generator at Kamal Adwan hospital to supply a water system producing 20 cubic meters of clean water per hour.
Mr. Dujarric reiterated the UN call to all parties to ensure that civilians are respected and always protected and that they have the basic necessities to survive.
“All hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally, and a cease-fire must be restored and renewed without delay,” he added.
