Lahore:
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has a certain degree of influence on the establishment, while his younger brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz, is “more subordinate to the powers in place”, said two politicians belonging to the Balutchistan National Party (NP).
This is why, they said, the NP must ask the older brother to look at the problems of Balutchistan and even speak to his younger brother to use his position in the matter.
Speaking at L’Express PK Press Club, NP leaders said they were aware of the fact that PML-N is in power in the center and also indirectly in Balutchistan, since the center has a lot of swinging in the province.
They said that approaching him from Nawaz, who is the chief of the PML-N, would have made no sense, if he had also been as subordinate to the establishment as his younger brother. However, this is not the case.
One of the leaders said Nawaz Sharif could get things done as the establishment listens to him.
“The question of Balutchistan is complex. There are nuances that require adopting a more subtle approach. Nawaz has formulated a committee of five members, notably the Minister of Law, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Planning and Development and two of NP members to get things done.”
He said that the government had to go with this “Indian agent rhetoric” and make sure that it keeps its door open to everyone at any time. “After all, those who feel alienated are forced to look elsewhere. Why create these fault lines so that India exploits? He added.
A legislator also of the NP said that this case was even beyond Nawaz Sharif, but politically, he is the only leader who can engage with the powers in place.
He said that Balutchistan was treated for its resources by all players and that no one worked for its improvement. He said that people earlier used only to fear feudal leaders and lords, but now these powers have created a mafia myriad that people fear.
He said that the powers in place made mistakes after error. He said that all political players and political parties had been expelled from the race for the 2024 elections and that it will not do anything good. He said they told Nawaz that they shouldn’t expect anything from the regime in the province.
“We have great hopes of Mian Nawaz Sharif Sharif. We expect him to play his role in resolving the question. The inhabitants of Balutchistan see things differently than people living elsewhere, because we see what is happening while others see what they are shown,” he added.
