The final of Daredevil: born again Season 1 landed on Disney + – and, Hell’s Bells, makes a dark but hopeful image of New York.
The ninth and last episode of this season, entitled “Straight to Hell”, has everything. Indeed, it is an exhilarating mixture of melodrama, ultra-violent action and narration based on crime that sets up captivating events to come in the next episode of the Marvel television show.
While the dust sets up in the first autonomous adventure of Daredevil in the Marvel cinematographic universe (MCU), I imagine that you have a lot of questions about what is happening in its last entry. So let’s decompose the one, what and why of all this.
Complete spoilers immediately follow For the last episode of Daredevil: born againis the first season. Do not continue if you haven’t looked at it yet.
Who dies in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9?
Person to note. Well, unless you consider Police Commissioner Gallo as an important character in the TV series Marvel Phase 5. He had a part of his head that collapsed and his lower jaw torn from his skull by Wilson Fisk, who has fully entered his ping phase of the mayor in the last chapter of the popular program.
Cole North of Jeremy Earl also seems to die in the final. He was still in Matt Murdock’s apartment when the AVTF exploded it with a grenade or two so, unless he escapes before the explosives are exploded, he also perished.
Gallo and North apart, the only people who have coded Again bornThe ninth episode is a bunch of anti-vigilant officers (AVTF). A number of them are executed by Frank Castle / The Punisher when, at the request of Karen Page, he helps Matt Murdock / Daredevil to escape Murdock’s apartment when the AVTF chased the latter at his home.
Does Punisher die in Daredevil: born again?
No. As I said, no one who is part of the main distribution of the MCU television show is killed in `Straight to Hell ”.
However, I can see why people might think that Punisher is not long for this world. He tries to take the AVTF alone and, while Frank Castle is a fighter and a sniper, even he cannot even fight a whole army of corrupt cops. It turned out to be as much when he took the hostage by the Fisk militia and subsequently beaten by them.
Fortunately for fans of the emblematic vision of Jon Bernthal of the anti-hero, Castle lives to fight another day. Towards the end of this episode, we learn that he was imprisoned in the secret lair of Wilson Fisk to Red Hook Port. With Castle set to appear in Again born Season 2 (more about this later) and / or his own special Disney + presentation, we will also see more of him in the future.
What is the martial law and why does mayor Fisk impose it in Daredevil: Born again the final of season 1?
Martial law has different meanings around the world. In the United States, it is defined as the temporary implementation of military authority over civil domination, which is generally invoked during a period of war, rebellion or natural disaster.
So why the mayor Fisk – or, as we will now refer to him, the mayor’s ping – the mayor because of his criminal activities in a government position – impose martial law on New York State?
The main reason is to continue his battle against the so-called scourge. Kingpin has no time or patience for those who take over. Indeed, he fought against his just part of vigilantes in the Daredevil television programs on Disney + and Netflix, alias two of the best streaming services in the world, so prohibiting them will allow him to make one of his mayor promises to clean the streets of his city of origin.
The implementation of martial law will help this goal. As a by-product of his promulgation, Kingpin can apply a daily curfew that will prevent vigilantes from traveling the streets at night. It also allows his AVTF to use the military force on anyone he suspects of being a criminal, whether it is a masked law manager or a simple crook. Finally, martial law can restrict freedom of expression, which allows Kingpin to dictate the story if people try to express an opposition to its totalitarian leadership.
All this therefore made much more difficult for Daredevil, The Punisher, and even Jack Duquesne / Swordsman – the latter who was also imprisoned alongside the castle – to carry out their personal crusades through New York.
Is there a post-key scene in Daredevil: Born Again’s Season 1 final? And how does that set up the special presentation of the Punisher?
Yes, but it’s more a scene of average credits than an end of Stinger.
In this document, we see Castle puts a charming offensive to convince an AVTF officer, who is called Anthony Petruccio, that he is not as bad as he was done.
Once Petruccio is in a striking range of the Castle cage prison cell, the latter catches the hand of Petruccio, breaks his arm and strangles him to death. All that the castle has to do now is to grasp the keys to the body of Petruccio, to free itself (and, potentially from its captive colleagues) and to escape.
Armed with a new revenge, I suspect that Castle will go on the way to war to eradicate the AVTF. This could constitute the basis of the Punisher’s special presentation, which is currently co-written by Bernthal (by collision) and could be released in 2026 (by The Hollywood Reporter).
Is Foggy really living in Daredevil: born again?
At this point, it is incredibly improbable. Yes, we all saw him die in the hands of Bullseye Daredevil: born againFirst of two episodes of two episodes, but that did not prevent a wild theory of Marvel fans from spreading over him by simulating his own death. Indeed, following the publication of last week’s chapter, viewers continued to debate fiercely because Foggy was alive.
Well, it seems that it is not. Foggy does not make a surprise return before the turnover of the end credits in episode 9. Okay, this revelation could be retained for the second season of the show – and, with the Marvel chief of the Brad Winderbaum TV confirming that Elden Henson is part of the distribution of season 2 (via Brandon Davis of the Hero Phase), this is a possibility.
Since `Straight to Hell ”, we have not been wiser to the real fate of his colleague lawyer in Murdock and the closest friend.
Where is Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9?
Who knows? One might think that with ankles of access to martial law and the hunt for masked individuals, Peter Parker would prepare, at the very least, to join the cause of Daredevil to fight for the soul of New York. After all, the city is as much its house as Daredevil and Kingpin.
Despite clear references to the Webslinger in Again born Episode 2 and Again born Episode 3, however, Spider-Man is visible by his absence. However, this is not a total surprise. Sony has live rights on one of Marvel’s most famous heroes, so Spidey’s perspective, making a cameo in this show has never been on the cards.
Jessica Jones, Luke Cage or any other hero of Netflix Marvel appears in the final of season 1 of Born again?
No. The fans had hoped for a cameo that complained by the crowd of one of these heroes after Murdock and page talked about the assembly of an underground resistance to lead the fight to Kingpin.
Until now, however, the Murdock army is made up of itself, page, Cherry, Josie, Angie Kim and some other New York police officers. This group will grow in season 2 but, at the moment, Daredevil is the only superpowering being that is one of them.
How Daredevil: The last episode of Born again sets up his second season
The cameras started rolling Daredevil: born again Season 2, which will be part of the programming of phase 6 of Marvel, at the end of February. But, we know that another episode has been developing since the beginning of 2023.
Many will have changed narrative, since the creation of season 2.. Indeed, following Again bornThe creative overhaul in the midst of the Hollywood 2023 strikes, which led to the hiring of a new showrunner and the realization of the halfway-ups of season 1, one of the best Disney + shows went in a different direction from its initial design.
So how did “Straight to Hell set up the next chapter in the series”? Aside from everything I have already discussed, we don’t know. A bunch of disclosure Again born The images of season 2, which spoil the aspects of the end of his ancestor, gave us some clues, but there is not much other than we know what will happen in season 2.
However, there are many interesting sons of the plot. Will Sheila’s guilt on Gallo’s death convince her to join the Murdock renegades group? How will Murdock react to Heather Glenn’s defection to the Fisk team? What role will Bullseye play in season 2? Will the Murdock group succeed in bringing Kingpin to fall? And it will all play before Avengers: Doomsday Flipe the table completely on the MCU as we know it?
With Again born Season 2 would have watched an outing in 2026, we will not have a ridiculously long wait to get answers to these questions. The devil, after all, is in detail, so Marvel will want to provide as much as possible next time.
