- Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, once again confirmed his support for the Nintendo Switch 2
- Spencer is a “very large believer” in Nintendo and what it can do for industry
- He also says that there is no pressure on the revelation of the new generation project of Xbox according to the switch 2 material reveal
Microsoft Gaming’s CEO, Phil Spencer, has reaffirmed that Xbox is still interested in taking care of the Nintendo Switch 2.
In a new interview with Variety according to the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct earlier this month, Spencer was invited to that it was planned to diversify to the Switch 2 in the middle of the current multi-platform-form-formation of Microsoft, which saw games like Indiana Jones and the big circle head for PS5.
As the Boss Xbox expressed in January, he said that the company would support Switch 2, like the Switch, because it is another way of reaching more players, and thinks that Nintendo is an important part of the industry as a whole.
“So we supported Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo was an excellent partner,” said Spencer. “We believe that it is a unique way for us to reach players who are not PC players, who are not players on Xbox. This allows us to continue to develop our community of people who care about the franchises that we have, and it is really important for us to make sure that we continue to invest in our games.
“I am really a great supporter of what Nintendo means for this industry and we continue to support them. And obtain support from their part for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future.”
Although no Xbox game has been revealed that he arrives at Switch 2 during the window, it is said that titles like Halo: the Master Chief collection And Microsoft Flight Simulator Will come to the platform in the future.
When asked if Nintendo’s great revelation of Switch 2 equipment made Xbox “Anty” in terms of revelation of his own new generation project, Spencer said “no” and thinks that industry “should focus on our communities and the basis of players we build”.
“I am inspired by what many different creators do and other platform holders. But I believe in terms of the plans,” he said. “Obviously, we evolve what it means to be Xbox and meet players in many different places. There are 3 billion people who play video games on the planet and I get up every morning and I think of the way Xbox can be more relevant for the 3 billion people playing.
“And it ensures that we direct how our games and our platform features can be available in as many places as possible, whether it is the cloud, whether it is people playing on PC, whether it is people who play on console. We are therefore really motivated by trying to develop our franchises and our platform to be an important role in the game for that of these 3 billion players that we can reach.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched on June 5, 2025, for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 or $ 499.99 / £ 429.99 for a Mario Kart World pack.
Pre-orders are now alive in the United Kingdom, but American pre-orders and Canadian pre-orders have been delayed because Nintendo assesses the potential prices.
