The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a meteorological advisory warning of heavy rains, wind storms, storms and isolated hailstorms in certain parts of Punjab from Friday evening to Saturday, which has an impact on infrastructure, transport and agriculture. Radio Pakistan reported.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center, the affected areas may include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faithbad, Hafizaba, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Sheikhupura.
The agency warned that strong winds and precipitation could drop the trees and lead to temporary power outages. Halm storms can damage cultures and external structures, in particular those with glass surfaces.
Travelers were advised to check the conditions of the road before leaving and avoiding unnecessary trips during intense time periods. Residents of areas subject to landslides are invited to remain alert and follow the local security guidelines.
“The public is strongly encouraged to take all the necessary precautions to minimize the risks associated with bad weather,” NDMA said in a statement.
