Thursday, the Senate subcommittee on human rights approved a bill to establish a commission on minority rights in accordance with United Nations standards and international regulations.
The meeting was chaired by Senator Ali Zafar. The proposed commission will be responsible for assessing and monitoring the implementation of constitutional guarantees and guarantees for the promotion and protection of minorities’ rights.
It will also examine existing or proposed policies or programs aimed at preventing discrimination and protecting minority communities, while providing relevant recommendations to the services concerned.
