US President Donald Trump will try to try to negotiate a Ukraine Russian peace contract in the days, unless there are clear signs that an agreement may be concluded, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday.
“We are not going to continue with this business for weeks and months. So we have to determine very quickly now, and I am talking about a few days, whether it is doable or not in the coming weeks,” Rubio told Paris after meeting European and Ukrainian leaders.

Rubio’s warning came in the midst of signs of certain progress in American talks with Ukraine.
Trump said Thursday that he expected to sign an agreement with kyiv next week, which would give the United States access to Ukraine minerals. An attempt to sign a mineral pact in February collapsed after the shock of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy with Trump and vice-president JD Vance at the Oval Office.
After the talks in Paris on Thursday – the first noun, high level and talks in person on Trump’s peace push which included European powers – Rubio said that an American peace framework had received an “encouraging reception”. The Zelenskiy office qualified constructive and positive talks.
Friday, Rubio’s comments highlight the growing frustrations at the White House on a lack of progress in the thrusts to settle a growing list of geopolitical challenges.
Trump promised during his electoral campaign to end the war in Ukraine in his first 24 hours at the White House. He moderated this assertion on taking office, suggesting an agreement by April or in May as the obstacles have set up.
Rubio said he had spoken with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, after the talks in Paris and told him that they had been constructive, and also informed him of “some of the elements of” the framework of American peace.
Rubio said the issue of American security guarantees in the context of any agreement had appeared in the talks in Paris, without being in more detail.
He said that security guarantees were a problem “that we can solve in a way in a way that is acceptable to everyone”, but “we have greater challenges that we must understand, if it is even possible in the short term”.
He said it was clear that a peace agreement would be difficult to conclude, but there should be signs that it could be done soon.
“There is no one who says it can be done in 12 hours. But we want to see how far it is and if these differences can even be reduced, if it is even possible to obtain a movement in the period we have in mind,” he said.
Neither the French presidency nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately returned any requests for comments.
