- The iPhone 18 is again sloping to do the 2 Nm switch
- This means more energy and a higher cost to make
- Telephones must be launched in September of next year
Should you go to the iPhone 17 this year or wait for the iPhone 18? A new leak suggests that the iPhone 2026 will be delivered with a significant increase in performance, but could also have a particularly higher price.
This comes from the seasoned complied digital cat station on the Chinese Weibo social media site (via MacRumors). Apparently, the A20 chip for the iPhone 18 series will go from a nanometer of 3 to a manufacturing process of 2 nanometers – essentially more transistors in the same space.
This should mean a major increase in performance and efficiency (which then improves battery life). The iPhone chips become faster each year of course, but when a nanometric jump (NM) is involved, the differences in generations should be even more important.
We have already heard this rumor, based on well -placed sources, and we are even more likely to believe it now that it has been repeated again. Expect that Apple makes a lot of noise on the performance of its iPhones when next year takes place.
It will cost you
The same prognostician says (via Google Translate) that the cost of these chips should “increase considerably”, with “another cycle of price increase for new phones”. Add a current price uncertainty and the iPhone 2026 series could be the most expensive to date.
Other flea manufacturers, including Qualcomm and Mediatek, apparently move to the same 2 Nm process next year – so flagship smartphones could be more expensive in all areas, not only with regard to Apple’s offers.
Again, this is something that the other cannetters predicted. It is not a completely new rumor, but it adds to the evidence of assembly that the handsets of the iPhone 18 will be impressive … and perhaps so expensive too.
Expect more rumors like this for the rest of this year and in the next one. In the meantime, we hear that the iPhone 17 range could be accompanied by a substantial overhaul, certain video recording improvements and a brand new model.
