The High Court of Islamabad received a request for an outrage from the Court filed by senior Pakistani officials Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) on Thursday concerning allegations of allegations of refusal to the founding president of the Imran Khan party at Adiala prison.

The head of the opposition to the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, and the head of the Senate opposition, Shibli Faraz, submitted the petition after finishing the biometric verification to the Court.

The petition accuses the authorities of the Adiala prison of having violated previous judicial orders which allowed meetings with the former Prime Minister imprisoned.

PTI leaders argue that repeated attempts to meet Khan were deliberately blocked, despite a decision by a greater court of the courtyard.

A similar petition was deposited earlier but had not been planned to hear. Thursday’s depot renews the legal dispute of access to Khan, who remains in detention.

The sisters of Imran Khan, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, also appeared before the court in support, with Akhunzada Hussain of Tehreek Tahafuz-eain.

Earlier this week, seven PTI leaders, including the three sisters of Imran Khan, were released after being briefly detained outside of Adiala prison when he was trying to visit him.

The response of the High Court of Islamabad to the new plea for contempt could have broader implications for the prison protocol, the judicial authority and the rights of political access.
