In an important development aimed at strengthening bilateral links, a high -level delegation of the Afghan acting government met on Friday the Minister of State of Pakistan, Talal Chaudhry and the interior secretary Khurram Agha in Islamabad.
The Afghan delegation was directed by the interim minister of trade and industry Haji Nooruddin Azizi, and included the Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the two parties engaged in complete discussions on key questions of mutual interest, in particular the cross -border trade in public transport and the repatriation of Afghan nationals, currently residing in Pakistan.
Chaudhry has reaffirmed Pakistan’s lasting commitment to promote friendly and cooperative relations with Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan had generously welcomed millions of Afghan nationals over the past four decades and would continue to welcome those who enter through legal channels.
Chaudhry underlined the government’s efforts to manage migration in an orderly and legal manner, citing the “documents regime” as a necessary step to ensure that only documented individuals have remained in the country.
He stressed that Afghan nationals were held in high esteem and that their repatriation would be carried out with dignity and care. “To support this process, more than 50 public transport camps equipped with medical and essential installations have been established across the country,” said Chaudhry.
“In addition, complaint cells under the supervision of the Interior Ministry and provincial chief secretaries operate to prevent any unfortunate incident,” he added. He assured that Afghan nationals with proof registration cards (POR) would not risk difficulties until June 30, 2025.
On this occasion, Azizi expressed his gratitude for the long -standing support of Pakistan to Afghan refugees and has recognized prolonged hospitality over the years.
He transmitted the desire of the Afghan government to deepen cooperation with Pakistan, in particular in the fields of security and trade.
