Islamabad:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar plans to raise the main security problems of Pakistan, in particular the use of Afghan soil by prohibited TTP and the use of American weapons when he meets the management of the Afghan Taliban on Saturday during a first visit to Kabul.

Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially confirmed that Dar would go to Kabul on Saturday at the invitation of his Afghan counterpart. It will be the first visit of any Pakistani Foreign Affairs in Kabul in 3 years and puts itself in the context of the renewed thrust to facilitate tensions.

“During the invitation of the Minister of Acting Afghan Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, will lead a high-level delegation to Kabul (Saturday) tomorrow,” said Foreign Office spokesman during the weekly briefing.

“During the visit of a day, he will call the Acting Prime Minister Afghan; will meet the Vice-Prime Minister of Acting Economic Affairs Afghan; and will keep discussions at the delegation with the Minister of Acting Foreign Affairs,” Shafqat Ali Khan told journalists.

He said the talks fully covered the agenda of the Pak-Afghan relationship, focusing on the ways and means of deepening cooperation in all areas of mutual interests, including security, trade, connectivity and links of population.

The visit to the Deputy Prime Minister is a reflection of Pakistan’s commitment to improve sustainable commitment with the Fraternal Country of Afghanistan.

When asked if Pakistan would raise the issue of terrorist sanctuaries during DAR’s visit, the spokesman said all the questions would be on the table.

“What I can say is that the question of sanctuaries and terrorism has been raised several times and we will continue to raise it. We want to find a friendly solution to this challenge,” he said.

There was a wave of commitments between Pakistan and Afghanistan this week. While the Pakistani delegation led by Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan went to Kabul, the Afghan side led by her Minister of Commerce was in Islamabad.

During the meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of Pakistan-Afghanistan (JCC), the Pakistani party said there was a change in the approach of the Afghan Taliban government to the TTP.
