Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to adopt a joint strategy for increased cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, marking key development as a result of current discussions within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The agreement was concluded during a high-level meeting at the headquarters of the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) in Islamabad, where a delegation from the Directorate General of Drugs of Qatar received a complete briefing on the counter-notes in Pakistan, Express News reported.
The two parties had detailed discussions on mutual areas of interest, reiterating their common commitment to fight against drugs linked to drugs through intelligence and operational collaboration.
The Qatarian delegation also visited Islamabad international airport as part of a broader evaluation of the technical infrastructure of Pakistan.
Qatari officials expressed their disposal to support Pakistan to improve its operational capacities.
The commitment is part of Pakistan’s broader effort to forge long -term regional partnerships aimed at stemming the flow of narcotics.
Managers described dialogue as a “constructive step” towards the institutionalization of cooperation through borders.
The ANF said that talks reflect a mutual understanding that regional threats require coordinated responses, in particular in the face of the evolution of smuggling networks.
Other commitments are expected in the coming months.
